About
My name is Cassie Edinger and I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). This is what you need to know about me - I love people and I love the work I do. I operate out of the core belief that you are valuable and important and that you can have hope.
I often get asked about the name, Sparrow Counseling. The word "Sparrow" can have many meanings. To some a Sparrow is just a small bird that you don't even notice. To others the Sparrow is a symbol of simplicity and enjoying the small things in life. For me, the Sparrow is a symbol of having value and worth even if others don't seem to appreciate it. In fact, even when it is hard for me as an individual to recognize my own value and worth.
There is a Scripture that I hold dear to my heart: Matthew 10:28 - 31 (NIV translation) states, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father's care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." This passage speaks to my soul's longing to be known, heard, seen and valued. Those are the things I want you to experience when you're in my office. Those are the things your soul is longing for too and I would be honored to help you find this acceptance just as you are.
You come to therapy to confront and deal with the things that scare you - the level of your depression, the intensity of your worries, the things that terrify you but you're afraid to say out loud. You seek out therapy because you have a deep fear and concern that something is intrinsically wrong with you. My goal and my purpose is to give you a place to rediscover your worth and help you find your way back to hope. Seeing the name for my office, Sparrow Counseling, reminds me each and every day of that purpose and goal. I can assure you of this - you have value and you have worth. I want to help you see that again, or maybe, just maybe, help you recognize it for the first time.

Core Values
When I formed Sparrow Counseling I had several core values in mind.
First and foremost I believe in Unconditional Positive Regard, or more simply put, Acceptance. This is a place where you can truly be you and find that you are accepted. I also believe in the idea of change and acceptance being able to hold a place in your life at the same time. You can both accept yourself in a loving way and be working to change and improve.
I believe in the value of Genuineness, or acting in a manner that is true to who you are. I strive to do that as your therapist and hope I can trust that you will do the same in our work together.
I believe in the idea of Hope, or a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. I could not do this work without believing in the power of Hope. If you're struggling to hang on to hope I want to help you find your way back to it.
I use the value of Mindfulness throughout my work. I believe it is important and vital to be able to develop the skill of being present and in touch with your current moment. Mindfulness is so important to being able to manage symptoms of depression, anxiety, worry, and so much more.
Finally, my sincere hope is that through therapy you can find Inner Peace. Even when life is not as you expect, if you can have Inner Peace you can tolerate, accept and maybe even enjoy the life you have.

Getting to know me...
My name is Cassie Edinger and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). I have been working in mental health counseling since 2014. I most enjoy working with teenagers and adults and I am familiar with the struggles of anxiety, worry, depression, questions of identity, low self-esteem, grief and feeling a low sense of worth.
One think you will quickly learn about me is that I enjoy reading and many things considered to be "nerd" culture (we're talking Star Wars, Doctor Who, The Walking Dead and more). I'm always up to learning something new and I truly want to hear about your passions and interests so I can use them in your therapy as well.
